2015 Report to Donors

We are now the largest Boston Terrier Rescue in the United States, with over 300 Boston Terriers rehomed this year. Our adoptions of shelter dogs have made a large impact on the number of dogs leaving collaborating shelters alive. In 2015, all of you made it possible for Texas Boston Terrier Rescue, also operating as Rural Dog Rescue, to rehome 2,904 fully vetted dogs, provide free heartworm treatment for 403 dogs, and add a new shelter. With your continued help, we hope to rehome at least 3,500 dogs in 2016.

In 2015, the oil crash and regional flooding caused severe hardship and suffering for many families, which left so many more dogs homeless. In response to these crises, and with your generous support, we responded by: (1) Expanding our proud adoption partnership with PetSmart Charities®, (2) Adding our new shelter in Cleveland, Texas, which serves as a staging shelter to prepare dogs for adoption at our every-weekend adoption events in 8 -13 PetSmarts; (3) Making capital improvements to our Boston Terrier shelter in Weatherford, Texas, and adding a senior and hospice program for Boston Terriers; (4) Adding the generously donated “Big Blue,” “Helga” and “Chuck Wagon” (1 cargo van and 2 SUVs) to our transportation capabilities; and (5) Providing access to very low-cost spay/neuter services for participating Liberty and San Jacinto County family dogs and cats, with free transportation. We sent Boston Terriers to loving new homes all over the United States and some to Canada.

OUR GOAL FOR 2016: LET’S REHOME 3,500 DOGS AND HELP MORE FAMILIES KEEP THEIR DOGS!

With your continued generous support, we can do it. We can rehome 3,500 dogs by expanding our collaboration with select municipal shelters and increasing our transportation, foster and volunteer networks and capabilities. We can expand our success in providing community access to very low cost spay/neuter and basic wellness veterinary services. Increasing access to low cost spay/neutering and basic veterinary wellness for families is high on our agenda.

We are proud to be able to leave no Boston Terrier behind, taking all Boston Terriers in need of homes into our rescue regardless of age, temperament, or health. With your help we can move even more Bostons and dogs of every breed and blend to safety and to loving homes. Every dollar counts, and monthly donations are a lifeline for us. Check your employers’ giving policies for matching grants and volunteer hour grants. Examples are ExxonMobil, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Walmart, ConocoPhillips, Dow – there are so many companies who can increase your donations just by your signing on at work.

Your donations are tax-deductible to our tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Please look into your hearts and help us to help as many homeless dogs and struggling families as we can in 2016.
